The IEA produced some sobering numbers in its report, The Oil and Gas Industry in Net Zero Transitions. While the IEA said more than $3 billion was invested in CCUS projects in 2022, only 5% of the ventures have reached final investment decisions, representing only 10 million metric tons of carbon capture and 20 million of storage. There is little doubt that the oil and gas industry will learn from experience and get better at doing CCUS.

AMSTERDAM, July 18 (Reuters) - Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML (ASML.AS) will hire 100 researchers who are leaving Philips (PHG.AS), the companies said on Tuesday. ASML was founded as a joint venture between Philips and ASM International (ASMI.AS) in 1984 and has become Europe's largest technology company by market capitalisation. Philips, a former industrial conglomerate that now focuses on medical technology, has been retrenching and cutting staff after a major recall of respiratory devices. The employees switching companies are from Philips' Engineering Solutions division, including staff working on "mechatronics", the integration of mechanical control systems into electronics. ASML hired a net 7,000 employees in 2022, adding almost 20% to its global workforce, but it is expected to slow that pace this year.

Jan 17 (Reuters) - Private equity giant KKR & Co (KKR.N) will buy S&P Global's (SPGI.N) engineering solutions business for $975 million, the financial services provider said on Tuesday. The move comes months after S&P Global said it would sell the unit, which serves more than 6,000 customers in the aerospace, defense, energy and architecture industries, among others. "The divestiture of Engineering Solutions to KKR allows us to further focus on driving growth in our core businesses," S&P Global Chief Executive Officer Douglas Peterson said. Shares of S&P Global were up marginally in afternoon trade. KKR's financing would come from its North America Fund XIII, which raised $19 billion last year.

Nov 30 (Reuters) - S&P Global Inc (SPGI.N) plans to sell its engineering solutions business and has confidentially engaged with several prospective buyers, the market intelligence and ratings agency said on Wednesday. The decision to sell the unit follows S&P Global's $44 billion acquisition of data firm IHS Markit earlier this year. The engineering solutions division serves more than 6,000 customers globally. S&P Global reported a 37% rise in revenue in the third quarter due to the inclusion of IHS Markit's businesses. The engineering solutions unit accounted for 3.3% of its parent's total revenue during the quarter.
